Mama, You Have Permission
Mama, you have permission to take care of yourself and get the body you want!
I was at a birthday party last month when my mama friend, Emily, said to me, “Your work goes against everything new moms are told about what to focus on after having their baby…It’s like someone is finally giving them permission to lose weight!”
This word permission really resonated with me!
New moms are told not to think about themselves, but to instead give all their time and energy to the little creature they just created.
As modern moms, we have very little to no support when it comes to our baby’s first few years. And what ends up happening is that we stop taking care of ourselves and start believing that we are not a priority anymore. (No way, girlfriend!)
The truth is that a well-rested, healthy, confident mother is what makes a happy family!
And you know what? You have permission to be a well-rested, healthy, and confident mother!
MAMA, YOU HAVE PERMISSION
PERMISSION TO SET BOUNDARIES
Mamas, let’s support each other instead of shaming each other! Let’s support whatever goal we set for ourselves, and let’s support other mamas’ goals too. (Teamwork makes the dream work!)
You have permission to set boundaries for yourself!
You also have permission to not hang out with other mamas who don’t support your goals and to have whatever goals you decide in life are right for you.
Self-care is NOT selfish!
Self-care is an absolute necessity for moms, no matter how old your kids are! You’re worth it, you’re worth it, you’re worth it, and I’ll keep repeating it until you agree with me!
PERMISSION NOT TO BE PERFECT
Mom guilt is real! But only if you let others’ opinions affect you!
As a woman, you have permission to have dreams and needs — you are not just a mom.
You have permission to work, and permission not to work. Also, know that you absolutely have permission to not be with your child 24/7.
Whether we like it or not, moms are constantly being judged!
So, forget what people say that you “should be doing” as a mom! It is okay to have different opinions, different methods, and different balances in our lives.
You have permission not to be perfect.
PERMISSION TO LOSE WEIGHT
In most mom groups, weight loss is taboo! Seriously!
If we mention that we’re not happy with the way we look, we are afraid of being seen as vain or superficial.
But the reality is that most moms don’t feel good in their new, awkward body! And when the baby weight doesn’t come off years later (and baby is no longer a baby), we start to question ourselves.
You have permission to want to lose weight!
You have permission to be and look however you want. The body size you want, yeah, you have permission to have that too!
Most importantly, you have permission to love the body you’re in NOW! No matter what size your body is.
Kindness to oneself is the first step to tuning into your body.
You have permission to be kind to yourself.
HERE’S YOUR PERMISSION
What would losing weight do for you?
Well, I believe it can do a lot! Losing weight is the natural by-product of having a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating habits in place.
Not to mention the very positive example you are going to be for your children. (Try that on for size!)
I love working with moms because the moms of today are creating healthy children of tomorrow! Children learn by observing, and the person they observe the most is, of course, their mama!
Your new healthy eating habits will go a long way in modeling healthy habits for your own children, too.
Remember, wanting the best for yourself is not selfish. Losing the baby weight is not selfish especially if you do it with a holistic, gentle approach and the right support.
You also have permission to ask for help and take care of YOU!
So, mama, you have permission.
