10 Ways To Make Chill Time A Priority
Go, go go! The race to the finish line every single day is REAL!
We are all going full force from the time we wake up in the morning to the time we go to bed at night. The society we live in is one that never stops.
We have so many demands competing for our time but only so many hours in a day. We have full-time jobs, homes to care for, kids, pets, family, friends, side hustles, and the list goes on.
Not to mention, we live in a media-saturated world. Instagram, Facebook and news coming at us 24/7.
All of these things create huge demands; and at some point, if we don’t focus on a little chill time, we will reach our threshold and burn out. Both physically and mentally.
This is why it is critical to your health and wellness that you take time to chill each week and make sure you are scheduling in vacations when you can.
CHILLING COMES WITH BENEFITS
It can be difficult to slow down and may even feel uncomfortable, lazy, or selfish. These feelings will quickly fade when you start experiencing some of the amazing benefits of taking time for yourself.
Chill time does not only serve you but those you come in contact with as well. It has been shown to increase creativity and productivity as well as reduce stress. Who doesn’t need a little less stress in their lives!
Need some “chill time” ideas? I’ve got you covered.
10 WAYS TO MAKE CHILL TIME A PRIORITY
1. HIT THE HAY
Head to bed one hour early and instead of looking at your phone or laptop read a book, listen to a podcast, or meditate.
2. SCHEDULE IT
Schedule your chill time each week on your calendar. Chill time should be just as important as any meeting at work. Pencil it in on your calendar which will help you to hold yourself accountable.
3. MAKE SURE YOU LOVE IT
Do something you love even if it’s as simple as relaxing in front of the TV watching your favorite reality show. Whatever it is if you love, do more of it and don’t feel bad about it!
Go for a walk or exercise! This one may not feel like chill time, however, taking the time to do something good for your health is a form of self-care and love.
5. NAPTIME, ANYONE?
Take a nap. Maybe you are not a fan of naps, but I love the luxury of climbing into my bed in a quiet room for a nap, especially when I feel my body telling me I need it.
6. WIDE, OPEN SPACES
Spend time in nature. Sit outside, take a walk in the woods, or lay on a hammock in your yard. Spending time outside is healing to our bodies in a multitude of ways.
7. FIND A HOBBY
Focus on your passions. We all have passions but most of us push them aside to make time for all our other to-dos in life. Use your scheduled chill time each week to focus on your passions and who knows where it may lead you.
8. LEARN SOMETHING NEW
Take a class and learn something you have always wanted to learn. It is never too late and you are never too old to learn something new.
9. GET IN THE KITCHEN
Cook a healthy, beautiful meal and then enjoy it solo. The act of cooking a meal for yourself can be therapeutic.
Take a bath and relax!
Taking time each week to chill will not only benefit you but everyone around you too.
Remember, not only do you need to take time each week to self-renew, but you deserve it!
I challenge you to make chill time a priority in your life starting right now!
